What is Carpenter ITI Course?
Carpenter is a vocational trade in ITI known as ITI carpenter. ITI carpenter is a short-term 1-year course about the study of cutting, shaping, polishing, fitting, and pattern making of wood materials that are used in construction, industrial work, daily life use, etc.
In this course, you will be taught about the practice of making various kinds of furniture, the use of boring tools, paring tools, broadening joints, lengthening joints, etc.
You learn about the use of wood-cutting and shaping machines. You can also learn about the use of sandpaper, plywood, nails, screws, jointers, sheets, etc. You will also be taught about different types of wood that are used in making goods. Basically, you get both practical and theoretical knowledge about carpentry.
Carpenter ITI trade comes under the Apprenticeship Training Scheme which is constituted under the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. There are two types of certificates in ITI, one is National Trade Certificate which is issued by National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and another is State Trade Certificate which is issued by State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT).

ITI Carpenter Admission
There are mainly two processes through which ITI institutes take admission in the ITI carpenter course. One is direct admission and another is merit list-based admission. Generally, private ITI institutes take direct admission without taking any entrance test whereas government institutes take merit list-based admission.
The application date for admission to government ITI institutes varies from state to state. Every state education board released the application form on their preferred date. So, you can check the dates by visiting the official website of your state board of education. Also, if you want to be admitted to a private ITI institute then you visit the institute and get all the information related to your query.
In general, the application form for admission starts in the month of May and completed all the process of admission by the month either July or August.
Direct Admission:- In the Direct admission process, candidates only have to fill out the application form and submit it to the institutes. Also, candidates have to pay their application form fees.
Merit List Admission:- In merit-based admission, the selection is done on the basis of a merit list and the merit list is based on the basis of the candidate’s results which they got in their 8th class examination.
